Leatherhead Circular

"There were 9 in the party led by Jerry O'Connor and the weather was dry, warm and sunny for the most part.

[Jerry is 4th from the left].

"The route we followed involved hardly any road walking and took us through Norbury Park to a very busy Polesden Lacey, where we had a short stop. We then continued south across Ranmore Common and through the Wotton Estate to Friday Street where we ate our sandwiches beside the lake and then had drinks in the 'Stephen Langton' which, like Polesden Lacey, was abuzz with people.

"Our return route to Leatherhead was slightly to the east of but just as attractive as the morning route, finishing with a short stretch beside the River Mole. We had covered just under 22 miles in 6 hours 35 minutes, tired but happy."

Thank you Jane for the photos and report.

[I noticed from the photos how much common ragwort there was on the route, as can be seen in the photo above.]

Finally I couldn't resist featuring this fellow, i don't think he is a rambler....

Box Hill to Leatherhead

Yesterday Michael Way lead a walk from Box Hill and Westhumble to Leatherhead. Accompanying Michael were 17 ramblers...

The meltwater and rain combined to produce some rather muddy terrain, and you can see how swollen the River Mole appears...

Many thanks to Rambler Ros Sweetman for the photos. You can find more of her pictures on her Flickr account, by clicking here.
