Hampstead Heath Autumn Ramble, 7th October

Hampstead Stalwart Robin Midwinter led a mid-week walk around the Heath last week.


There was a party of twelve, pictured below. Robin is on the extreme left.

    Can anyone tell me where the rectangular pond with the stairs behind it is on the heath? I thought I knew the heath quite well but I'm ashamed to say that I don't recognise this?!

    Jorrit; Thanks for your comment. How do you find the pond? Have a pint of Landlord in the Old Bull and Bush. Then cross the road and go up Sandy Road. It bears to the right, going past some cottages. When you go onto the path that goes past the entrance to Golders Hill Park, take the second (uphill) path on your left. Follow it uphill where it bends right then left. You will soon come to the entrance signposted The Pergola. Keep ahead. Voila!
